Trip to Pigeon Forge

We took a trip this past weekend over to Pigeon Forge with a stop by my Dad's in North Georgia. The markers on the Cherokee Victory and Defeat were photographed not too far north of the Georgia line in North Carolina. The other two were taken in Pigeon Forge, TN.

Murfreesboro

I took the kids on a "field trip" / "Staff Ride" the other day to Stones River National Battlefield Park. It would've been named Murfreesboro National Battlefield Park if the South had stopped the Northern invasion. The kids did the "Junior Ranger" program and learned a lot about the battle, Civil War life of soldiers and how a cannon was fired.

Rock Castle

When Allison made me go to a fall bazaar this morning, I found this marker nearby. This house still stands in Hendersonville, TN.

Fall Encampment at Manskers Station, TN

The red River Militia officially formed this weekend with the 4 of us pictured above. I was also able to speak with the "Bible Man" about religion on the colonial frontier. He's the only guy who reproduces 18th century bibles the way they did back then. His bibles can be found being used in places such as Williamsburg and Jamestown.
